ROKUROSHA

Rokurosha is a workshop that carves out round wooden base items for lacquerware. Yoshio Sakai, who moved from Hokkaido and founded Rokurosha, creates various products based on the concept of "redefining values" while inheriting traditional techniques. His wooden planter "TIMBER POT" that is biodegradable won the Young Designer Award 2015. Also, since 2018, they have been holding lacquerware order fairs called "Only Wan" all over the country, and have constantly continued to innovate and think of how to improve as woodworkers. Currently, plans are underway to travel around the country on a mobile wooden craft workshop called the "rokurosha," where anyone can see and feel the craftsmanship of a woodturner up close, and enjoy Yoshio's laid-back character.
