Echizen Town, where the sticky, iron-rich potter's clay is produced, is the hometown of Echizen Pottery, which has been designated as a Japanese heritage site as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns.
This time, we will start at the Echizen Pottery Village, where artworks by Taro Okamoto and others are lined up, experience a tea ceremony where you can feel the ``tea culture'' of Tenshin Okakura, and take a close look at the handiwork of artisans at an Echizen ware workshop.
Sometimes it's simple pottery for everyday use, sometimes it's surprising works of art. Why not enjoy Echizen Pottery, which has many different faces, with all five senses?
